Colour Mix Progress


Pia Taubert, who has been working for the past few months in the RepRap Lab at Bath on the colour mixing project, has got continuous control of the mix working.  See the video above.

The proportion of the mix is specified in the G-Codes.  So we have a cheap and cheerful way to experiment: read in a G Code file for a conventional monochrome object, then replace the E fields with a mix proportion and write it back out again.  Make that mix proportion a function of the X, Y and Z G-Code values.

That isn't a sensible way to do things properly, but it does allow a lot of experiments to be done quickly because the function can be anything that can be put in the program: linear change, sine waves, cliff edges etc. etc.

Introducing BotQueue.com - Open Source Distributed Manufacturing

Hey RepRap, it's been a long time!  I've left MakerBot and am now back to hacking and building stuff because it's fun and righteous.

Anyway, I wanted to tell y'all about the latest project I've been working on.  I'm calling it BotQueue and it's designed specifically to control RepRaps (Marlin, Sprinter, GRBL, etc).  This is not just another host software, it is a distributed manufacturing software that will let you control lots and lots of machines through a simple web interface.  Needless to say, its 100% open source (both server and client).

RepRap Interviews: Sound / Slic3r

Alessandro Ranellucci visited me this week in Prague, you may know him as Sound and most definitely you've seen his masterpiece, Slic3r. I did an interview with him and hopefully I will get a chance to interview more RepRap heroes in the future.
