Yes you can chop up STL files with openscad see http://blog.makerbot.com/2011/03/22/openscad-model-slicer/.
ReplyDeleteYou can weld ABS parts together with pipe cement. It dissolves the surfaces and then evaporates to leave a full strength weld.
I'd suggest to do a RepRap genealogical tree...
